T.SOUND - MUSIC: Experimental, minimalist music that puts the listener into various states of consciousness. The individualistic, sinusoidal sounds of the crystal singing bowls astonish because of their intensively physical sound qualities. The instruments are rich in overtones and undertones. This quality is particularly appreciated in the shamanistic tradition. When you first hear this kind of music, it might seem irritating to you. But as you listen to it for a longer time, your hearing habit might open up and a differentiation between the various sound qualities becomes possible. When listening to it via headphones, an effect of synchronization is used in certain passages, which is caused by two tones of minimally shifted frequency creating a third tone. At a live concert, sound patterns develop in different parts of the room which wander through the it then. At the beginning of E.T.SOUND, the mere play on instruments was in the foreground. Since 91 E.T.Sound has embedded music in experimental, textual overall concepts with elements of light, voice, noise and design. In 94 the Synthetic Nature project was developed; sampler and keyboard were added to the range of instruments. Synthetic Nature combines the sound of the crystal singing bowls with noises of nature. The concept of E.T. Sound is the following: to use only "natural" tones and noises in a minimalist way. The instruments are on the one hand the crystal singing bowls and on the other the Synthetic Nature keyboard. For this purpose, E.T.Sound assigned a certain, processed noise or melody from nature f. e. rolling stones, flowing water, howling wind, lightning and thunder, noises of the virgin forest etc. to each key of this keyboard. In the dynamics of the interplay, a new synthetic natural sound, which fills the theater with a heavy thunderstorm or a sound hard to classify yet familiar, is caused by a combination, alienation and change in rhythm. E.T.Sound sees noises from nature as musical elements, which evoke old, stored, emotional codes in humans. These are melodies which are successively edged out of our industrialized everyday lives and replaced by the noises of a city or technology. The act of collecting natural noises, which might disappear in the future, on technical equipment represents a sweet-sour compilation of a bibliography - as if one was to pin up the last butterflies of a dying out species. Synthetic Nature transports in a technical way natural noises to the urban room of a theater and creates an innovative sound composition by means of the sinusoidal sounds of the crystal singing bowls. 96 E.T.Sound plays NOISE, "wilde Entspannung - chaotische Ordnung", crystal singing bowls and sample collages. 97 E.T.Sound plays Interphase on the occasion of the opening of the "Global Village" Symposium in the Vienna City Hall. 00 E.T.Sound produces the CD "A - Collage" for "performing resistance" together with Max Mayer, Hubsi Kramar, Vilmos Nagy and Sonja Romei. 01 E.T.Sound plays "präambel im 3/4 takt - jedes dritte wort - jeder tritt das wort", a composition created for "performing resistance" in Vienna, together with Elisabeth Asenbaum - sax/harp/violin/voc, Michael Fischer - sax/voc/violin, Thomas Stuck - sampler/synth/comp, Martin Tiefenthaler - sax, Oliver Schrader - voc, Amadeus Kronheim - choir. 01 E.T.Sound plays "solamente una pregunta" in Palma de Mallorca, Centre de Cultura Sa Nostra. 01 E.T.Sound, plus Kayetan Dick, plays "erregte Dichtungsmasse", in the Theatro in Graz/Austria, on the occasion of the "upsites - Kunst kann krachen" Festival. |
